Master Reiki
Developed in 1922 by Dr. Mikao Usui, but drawing heavily on ancient healing methods, Reiki is a spiritual healing practice. Reiki is based on the concept of moving a healing energy after a Reiki practitioner is attuned, and have developed the skills and knowledge to understand and optimize the healing energies.
This healing Reiki energy is intertwined with the concept of Chakra energy, certainly in modern-day Reiki practice. Many people believe in the concepts of Reiki, even though clinical trials did not support the concept of Reiki in 2008.
Dr. Usui, after a 21 day retreat on Mount Kurami, developed Reiki, which he described as the knowledge and spiritual power to apply to others and attune them. During this 21 day retreat, he meditated, fasted and prayed. Dr. Usui’s Reiki system incorporates Reiki principles, which evolved from ethical principles he developed shortly after his retreat. These principles survive and thrive even today.
You will not find just one governing body for Reiki, rathere, there are many forms of Reiki with their own organizational structures. While there are many, they can be said to fall into two broad categories or systems. The first is traditional, or Japanese Reiki, and the second is Western Reiki.
Perhaps the biggest difference between the two systems is that the traditional Reiki systems tend to rely on intuition to know where to place the hands in treatments, whereas the Western system has a more formal set of hand patterns for treating different ailments. In Western Reiki there is also a more formal process for advancing through the various levels, along with more of an emphasis on healing.
California embraced Western Reiki after it was introduced there via Hawaii, and it soon spread to the entire Western World.
There are numerous ways and methods for those who wish to become a Reiki Master. Some schools of thought believe that becoming a Reiki master should take a long time, and there were also attempts to define fees and costs for each level. Much to their chagrin, economical methods and systems have emerged.
Reiki is one of those things where you will get out of it what you put into it. Dr. Usui himself strongly believed that we all have a Reiki Master within us, just waiting to be awakened or attuned. If Reiki comes from within, the time involved to master it can be very short with the right help and guidance. Online options are available today, supported by remote attunements (one of the skills of a Reiki Master).
You only need a Reiki Master to guide you and you can master Reiki. Nobody can become a Reiki Master without the help and guidance of a Reiki Master, but the Master can be located somewhere else and provide remote attunement.
