Tired of Synthetic Drugs? Try Aromatherapy

Over a billion dollars worth of aromatherapy and essential oil products are sold each year. These products are especially attractive to those that are tired of prescription and synthetic drugs and who want to renew and cure their bodies using natural ingredients.

For those that have just begin to practice aromatherapy, it may be confusing to discover the wide discrepancy in pricing between what looks like identical aromatherapy skin care products. So before you spend your hard earned money, do a brief bit of research on the prices that the various companies are charging for the particular product that you want. After considering about ten or so, you will have a pretty good idea of the average price for that product and can avoid being taken.

Any company selling the product too far out of this median area should cause a few red flags to be raised. A company selling the product too low, may be using synthetic essential oils instead of natural ones. A company selling the product too high may simply be trying to take advantage of new or unaware and gullible buyers.

Nowadays you can find essential oil based products nearly everywhere, even in your local drug store. But even though you can purchase aromatherapy products from drug stores, beauty shops, and health stores, you’ll have a great deal better chance of finding true aromatherapy and essential oil products from a health store. Also, look for the word “100% essential oil” or its equivalent on the product label. Also, notice waht type of bottle it is stored in. The best quality essential oils are stored in glass bottles becuase real essential oils can interact with plastic bottle possibly causing the bottle to leak and the essential oil itself to be contaminated.

Not all countries look at aromatherapy in a negative light the way that our medical profession does. For example, in France aromatherapy is practiced along side of “normal” medicine. There are even some essential oils that France regulates as prescription drugs. And, all in all, there is not the stigma attached to aromatherapy that there is in this country.

In the U.S. the term aromatherapy is unregulated as are the products which claim to be aromatherapeutic in nature. Until you’ve been using these products for a while, you’ll basically have to trust that the place where you get your products from is giving you the real deal. If you have a qualified aromatherapist, however, she can point you to the best places to get your product from.

In the United States. many conventional doctors look down on people using an aromatherpist to help with their treatments. But the millions of people that use aromatherapy products and treatments, swear by them. While it is certainly a fact that a qualified aromatherapist does not have to attend as many hours of school as a traditional doctor, she does have to have some training. And when it comes to expertise on the effects of aromatherapy products, she undoubtedly has much more experience and knowledge of essential oils and how they affect the body. This is not to say that an aromatherapist should replace your doctor. In fact, many places don’t even require that they be licensed. But when you’re dealing with your health, it never hurts to get multiple opinions from as many knowledgeable sources as you can.
