Vishudda The Throat Chakra
In the early Sanskrit writing the throat chakra or the fifth chakra is referred to as Vishudda. It is positioned in the center of the throat. The energy from this chakra flows out of the front, just under the chin and in addition a little less intensely from rear of the neck.
This chakra is connected with communication, speech and expression. The need to communicate that which is deep within you both to yourself and to others is that which is represented by this chakra.
With a fully activated throat chakra speech can come easily and there is a willingness to communicate with other people..With this chakra blocked then throat problems in general can arise along with loss of voice, neck problems and occasionally shoulder problems too.
Turquoise blue is the main color related with this chakra. {Its element is the ether and the related metal is MercuryThe metal is Mercury and its associated element is ether}. The main gem stone for this chakra Turquoise. The mineral turquoise consists of two colors, both green and blue and this represents the spiritual, heaven (sky blue) and the earthly green of the planet. That is the main idea around this chakra. The mineral assists us to express ourselves and to share spiritual knowledge which can be integrated into our material lives. This can help with communication with others and also with spiritual and psychic communication.
When the throat chakra is unblocked, the psychological aspects manifest as a development of artistic talent and elevated spirituality. The psychological elements of the throat chakra when it is out of balance can be obsession, repression of speech, creative blocks and not being able to express yourself.
You can visualize a ball of turquoise light surrounding the chakra whilst listening to meditation music in the key of A so as to balance this chakra on your own. Envisage a 16 petalled blue lotus flower slowly opening and spinning over the chakra. The Sanskrit mandala for this chakra depicts this very same blue lotus flower.
